This component is an in-house written web application scanner that performs checks for the top 10 web application vulnerabilities as outlined by the Open Web Application Security Project (www.owasp.org)
The scanner begins by crawling the target web application to identify all accessible parameters. The site crawler then passes its results to the assessment functionality of the scanner which performs checks for the following common vulnerabilities;
SQL Injection, Cross Site Scripting (XSS), Directory Traversal, Code Injection, Command Injection, LDAP Injection, XML XPATH Injection, Authentication/ Authorisation flaws, Information Disclosure, Blind SQL/XPATH Injection, In addition to others which are continuously added.
Form Posting checks can be added as an option.

The Vulnerability Assessment module is based upon the award winning Nessus Vulnerability Scanner. Nessus is our choice for infrastructure scanning as it continually out performs other commercial vulnerability scanners.
To optimise detection results, information learned from the Reconnaissance module is loaded into the Nessus configuration before the scan begins.
